Motley Crue at Rock Jam, 2012
So for the last 6 months or so I have been anxiously trying to get an assignment to shoot Motley Crue's final show in Denver (assuming they don't keep extending their farewell tour) and I have been coming up empty with every single attempt. After a while, I just accepted that it is beyond my level, and I won't be able to shoot them ever again in my lifetime. Well, one week before the show, I decided to try one last time. The publication that got me into Riot Fest last year at the very last minute, as well as JUDAS PRIEST, also at the very last minute, Listen Up Denver, informed me a few days ago that their photographer for the Crue show will not be shooting them after all, and asked if I was interested....ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! WHAT ARE THE CHANCES???? First Riot Fest, Then the ALMIGHTY JUDAS PRIEST, NOW THIS???? NO FUCKING WAY!!!!!!!!! The editor told me the rules for shooting the band, and it is VERY strict, more strict than ANY show I have ever photographed, but I told him I still want the assignment. I also had to sign a release to get approved. Well, I just heard back today, and got confirmation that I will be shooting MOTLEY FUCKING CRUE tomorrow night in Denver.
SO FUCKING STOKED!!!!!!! The only thing that sucks is their photo policy. I only get ONE SONG, and even worse, I can only shoot the band FROM THE SOUND BOARD, which is like a mile away or some shit. WTF is this??????? As a photographer himself, you'd think that Nikki Sixx would have more respect for other photographers, but I guess not. Oh well. This is still a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I am beyond excited to shoot it. Just the fact that I was able to get the photo pass blows my mind. Every year I feel like I am one step closer to making this dream become a reality. I wonder who will be next????
KNOCK EM DEAD KID!!!
I will post the review and pictures as soon as they are published, but in the meantime, please check out Listen Up Denver's FB page and give them a like!! You can also check out other articles, reviews, and photographs at www.listenupdenver.com!! Without them, this would not be happening. THANK YOU TIM LUD!!!
